Greetings,

Last year I upgraded my PC based Protools set-up to a Mac based one. I did this for convenience mainly and not because I prefer one over the other. It seems that the Mac vs. PC days are behind us as both platforms have come a long way. Whatever OS you are most comfortable with, whatever environment you can make stable and responsive to your particular needs, is the one you should use. This Month, Erik Jay, a writer, designer, and BMI composer/artist who lives in L.A. gives us his take on the DAW wars. Check it out at:

FEATURED ARTIST PROFILE - The Submarines are this month's Featured Artist. They represent a glorious collage of wide-ranging influences, from old-school dub to intricately layered electronica to vintage pop. Their new release "Honeysuckle Weeks" weaves together themes drawn from their immediate surroundings: the garden outside, and the push and pull of life and love inside. Download a song and check out their profile at:

FREE MP3 DOWNLOAD - Although you may not have heard of Computer vs. Banjo, youíll recognize the names behind the band. Johnny Mann was the lead guitarist of Gran Torino, a funk/jazz fixture on the Southeast club and college scene that ultimately licensed songs to TV hits like "The Real World." Beau Stapleton played tenor guitar and mandolin for Blue Merle, a dynamic rock/pop four piece that rose remarkably high for such a short-lived star, releasing the album Burning in the Sun on Island Records and opening for Van Morrison.
