Honoring a great craftsman and great design.
In honor of Carroll Purviance and due to popular demand, Bob Reeves decided to reissue this legendary
mouthpiece using Carroll's original one-piece design, tooling, exterior shape, and numbering system.
Bob Reeves inherited
all of the tooling from Carrol Purviance upon his death in 1969 and has continued to make Purviance mouthpieces with the original
specifications to this day. Bob Reeves worked with Carroll Purviance for over 10 years, which is why Bob's shop is the only
place where authentic Purviance mouthpieces can be obtained.
Bob Reeves Brass Mouthpieces obtained and has maintained
the United States and International trademark for Purviance since 1973. Bob has always respected Purviance for the forward
thinking mouthpiece designs of his day and is happy to honor Carroll with this re-issue.
Carroll Purviance came to
Los Angeles in the 1930's after traveling for many years as a cornetist on the Chautaqua circuit. He was trained as a carpenter
and studied machining with Dominick Calicchio (creator of the Calicchio trumpet), Roe Plimpton (Olds factory), Earl Strickler
(great Besson repairman), and Earl Williams (creator of the Williams trombone).
A few years after he arrived in Los
Angeles, he opened his shop and started working with players in developing new mouthpiece designs.
