Nothing sings out as bold and true as a Guild jumbo acoustic guitar.
The Guild F-50R Vintage Jumbo Acoustic-Electric Guitar follows in the tradition of the original Guild
flat-tops, first made in 1954. In 1965, Guild offered its popular F-50 jumbo model in a rosewood version. The F-50R has a
completely different sound with a warmer tone than its maple sibling—the F-50—and has been an guitar of choice
for players such as Bonnie Raitt, Bryan Adams and Dan Hicks.
Today's acoustic-electric Guild F-50R is crafted with
solid Indian rosewood back and sides, a 4.8"-deep body, X-bracing pattern and a sculpted rosewood bridge. It's further enhanced
with a AAA spruce top, a bound ebony fingerboard with traditional mother-of-pearl and abalone block inlays, G-shield headstock
logo, gold hardware, pure nitrocellulose lacquer finish and the D-TAR Wave-Length Load 'N Lock pickup system.
The
D-TAR Wave-Length combines a thin, piezo under-saddle transducer with an 18v, low-noise, high-input impedance preamp, to create
a system with twice the dynamic range of typical 9v systems.
The 18v preamp is powered by 2 AA batteries and a voltage
converter. With 18 volts, the signal has more headroom, so hard strumming won't distort as easily. The preamp also has an
input for a second source, like a magnetic pickup or a soundboard transducer.
Two adjustable trim pots—one for
low-frequency shelving and one for high-frequency shelving—allow you to fine tune and set-and-forget the bass and treble
frequencies to optimize the Wave-Length for your guitar's size and shape. Wave-Length transparently amplifies the natural
timbre of your Guild F-50R guitar with minimal coloration.
The soundhole-mounted Volume and Tone controls give the
ultimate in final control for your tonal palette. But perhaps the coolest part of the system is D-TAR's new Load 'N Lock system,
which guarantees quick and easy AA battery changes. Just unscrew the endpin collar, remove the old batteries, and pop in the
new ones. A quarter turn of the collar is all you need to lock them securely in place.
Other appointments that make
the Guild F-50R special include scalloped red spruce bracing, an ebony headcap with G-shield logo, and a dovetail neck joint
with a slim heel.
The guitar's lightweight laminated birch tail-block, 30" radius top, black/white striped rosette
with abalone center ring, natural mother-of-pearl and abalone V-block position inlays, bound body, fingerboard and headstock,
tortoise shell pickguard, and natural finish contribute further to the F-50R's good looks.
A dual action truss rod,
bone nut, saddle and bridge pins complete the Guild Vintage Jumbo Acoustic-Electric Guitar's impressive credentials.
