This metal-shelled 6-1/2" x 13" snare drum is precision-hammered in a dimpled golf ball pattern by a computer-controlled process, then powder-coated to capture the essence of the links. 15 holes are drilled into the shell (ddrum tried to get 18 holes in but there wasn't enough room). The holes are drilled between the slightly offset lugs to add attack and control to the shell, and die-cast hoops are added on each side for volume and articulation. The result is a snare drum that slams with the power of a 9-iron in the hands of a champion yet with the sensitivity of a master-stroke putter.
