A Gibson Custom Shop classic with authentic vintage style.

History speaks for itself. The Gibson ES-335 guitar is one of the most important guitars of all time. Right from its introduction in 1958 as the world's first semi-hollow body electric guitar the ES-335 was an immediate success. It was taken up quickly by adventurous jazz and country players who recognized its advantages, rapidly proving itself equally at home in the hands of blues, pop, and rock players too. With its arched top and f-holes, the Gibson ES-335 bore recognizable links to its predecessors among Gibson's archtop acoustic-electric guitars, but a quick probe inside its double-cutaway thinline body with solid center block revealed it as a brave new design. That chunk of maple that ran down the electric guitar's middle to render it a semi-acoustic made a world of difference to its performance. The solid wood meant the Gibson ES-335 could carry a Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, or the fully anchored Bigsby vibrato. To top it all off, plugging up the center of that body achieved impressive resistance to feedback, a major pest to archtop players of the day. One of the most versatile electric guitars ever produced, it has been a Gibson mainstay ever since.

This 1959 Gibson ES-335 electric guitar is finished in a gloss faded cherry nitrocellulose lacquer finish and retains the classic ES-335 semi-hollow body proportions: 16-1/2-inches wide, 20-inches long, and 1-3/4-inches deep. The scale length is a standard Gibson 24-3/4". The neck is one-piece mahogany and features a comfortable rounded "59" neck profile. It has 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays and a single-ply binding. Additionally, there is single-ply binding on the top and back. All hardware is nickel, including reliable Grovervintage tulip tuners, and a ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge with a lightweight aluminum stopbar tailpiece. A pair of '57 Classic humbuckers capture that highly sought-after "PAF" style tone, noted for its unparalleled blend of warmth, richness and clarity. Controls include two volume, two tone, and a three-way pickup selector switch. Your 1959 Gibson guitar comes safely nestled in a black levant case.
