Use your PC or Mac to create customized Variax guitar models.

The Line 6 Variax Workbench 1.5 guitar modeling software takes you inside your Variax 300, 500, 600, 700 or Acoustic 700 guitar. Workbench 1.5 fully personalizes any Line 6 Variax guitar with live or studio ambient modes, alternate tunings, mic position, compressor, and trim controls.

Line 6 Workbench 1.5 is a combination USB interface and music software package that allows you to see and hear the physical changes to your custom settings in real time. Now you can tweak each string's tuning on your favorite model, build the ultimate 12-string acoustic guitar from any of the available models, or put variations of your favorite guitars in every slot on the model knob!

With Line 6 Variax Workbench's Librarian you can keep track of your custom guitars, store them on your computer's hard drive, email them to friends, or just make a CD-ROM backup so you can load your guitars into any Variax guitar you use.

Using the special RJ-45 connector, the Variax Workbench modeling software lets you go inside and create custom guitar models. Using the included custom digital Variax cable and converter box, you can edit via USB on any Windows or Mac OSX computer and tweak the guitar entirely on-screen. You can see and hear in real time exactly what you're building!

Live and Studio modes If you're playing a room that's heavily tiled and boomy, switching to Live mode will give you dry sound that has the room-like reflections taken off the guitar model. However, if you're recording direct, Studio mode will give you all the air and lush body modeling that you'll need for a warm and realistic guitar track.

Mic position slider This microphone slider gives you the ability to move the microphone model. When you decrease the slider's value it is as if you are moving the microphone closer to the guitar's sound hole. This emphasizes more of the guitar body model and the lower frequencies. When increasing the slider's value, you de-emphasize the guitar body model and hear more of an emphasis on the upper frequencies.

Compression setting slider The Line 6 Variax Workbench 1.5 software makes getting great studio-quality compression easy. At 0°, you get a natural uncompressed sound for gentle, dynamic finger picking. As you move the slider towards 100%, the compressor delivers a punchy attack and smooth release for more aggressive strumming with a pick.

Trim volume slider By default, the TRIM slider is set at unity gain (0dB). TRIM allows you to attenuate or boost your guitar from -18dB up to +6dB.
