The Washburn bass that bears the name of a bona fide bass legend.
Washburn worked side-by-side with a true bass guitar legend to produce the AB40SH Stu Hamm Signature
Acoustic Bass. The bass has a fully intonatable bridge, allowing for even intonation throughout the entire fingerboard. It's
perfect for those who want tone, playability, and acoustic amplification without the intrusion of feedback.
bass features an arched spruce top, arched maple back, maple sides, and a mahogany neck for a full, balanced tone that swells
from the oval soundhole and through the custom piezo electronics. The rosewood fretboard, multi-laminate binding, intonatable
monorail bridge, and Grover tuners continue the strength in construction not regularly seen in an acoustic-electric bass crossover.
Washburn Stuart Hamm bass is equipped with the Buzz Feiten tuning system, a tempered tuning formula, which uses a compensated
nut and saddle to correct the inherent intonation problems of the Western tuning formula. The Buzz Feiten Tuning System is
standard on all USA made Washburn guitars and basses and is featured on select imported models. Washburn is the only major
guitar manufacturer to incorporate the system as a standard feature.
Stuart Hamm has performed and recorded with Steve
Vai, Frank Gambale, Joe Satriani and many other well-respected guitarists. It was playing live on tour with Satriani that
brought Hamm's bass playing skills to national attention.
Hamm's slapping, popping and two-handed tapping techniques
are demonstrated on his solo recordings and instructional videos. A popular part of his live performance often includes a
two-handed tapping arrangement of Vince Guaraldi's "Linus and Lucy."
