If you like “no frills” rock n’ roll, then you’ll probably like Midwest rockers Munkey Juice.  On Fatty Arbuckle’s Coke Bottle, the band rips through nine tracks in less than 30 minutes, demonstrating some capable chops and a degree of songwriting prowess that straddles the lines between punk, garage/alternative and 70’s-style hard rock. The tunes are guitar driven, and riffs of all sorts abound.

Many of the songs have harsh edges, and titles like “Intolerable Noise,” “Cob Web Mind,” and “Hate Me, Love Me,” don’t belie that.  Yet, others, like “Lady Luck,” feature catchy melodies and choruses reminiscent of The Ramones, giving Munkey Juice a welcome variation on the garage-band theme.

Favorite Track: Track 3, “Lady Luck”
