Song and Film - Your Music in TV and Film

I would like to share with all of you priceless information that I learned about getting your music into TV and film over the last 2 years. Coming from a background of being in a band called Burlap to Cashmere on A&M/Interscope records, #1 song on the AC charts, headlining world tours for fans up to 40,000 people, Dove Award winner for Best Rock Album I kept asking myself, “Why am I still broke!” I always had a passion for music that was placed into movies and wondered how a broke musician like myself could get into this field. After being turned down by pretty much every film placement company, I decided to do it myself. The BEST advice I am going to tell you now is when you can’t get someone to help you, do NOT get discouraged, but take the matter into your own hands, put your desires and dreams into what you need to get done and I promise you - it WILL happen! Do not doubt yourself for a single second. The only way things do not happen for you is because you thought they couldn’t. Please trust me that anything you want to happen CAN and will as long as you 100% believe it can - it’s that simple!

Ok, now here’s how I did it:

I sent a song to a friend of mine who owns the leading tip sheet for unsigned bands called, Demo Diaries. I asked for him to listen to my song, Beautiful and told him it had a Dawson’s Creek feel. He asked me if it was on Dawson’s Creek or if I wanted it on there. I of course said YES I would love my song on the show. He sent me the email address of the editor and told me to mention his name. I did so and she loved the song. Then 1 week later the music supervisor of Dawson’s Creek called her and said he needed a song for the ending scene of the No Doubt episode. She told him she had the perfect song (beautiful) and 2 weeks later my song was played on Dawson’s Creek for over 2 min! 1 year later, after another song of mine was used in the show; I made more money than I did touring in a signed band for 5 years! I liked this a lot J

The start of Song and Film - a leading music licensing company.

I was sitting at my computer one day when all of the sudden it hit me … start a website, like my friend at Demo Diaries, but do it for music for film! So, I would find bands I loved, post them on my site and email the film industry to showcase these bands. After two weeks of starting Song and Film, the VP of Fox TV picked 4 bands for 2 new TV shows! I quickly learned the business and 2 years later I am running a successful music licensing company, letting ALL artists submit their music for free for possible representation. Although I only sign the best artists in my opinion, this bothered me that there were so many artists we didn’t work with. This is the start of the FM Report - The Film and Music Report.

FM Report

At www.fmreport.com, any artist of any genre can sign up and receive top TV and film leads from company’s like Disney, FOX and Paramount Pictures, directly to their email addresses! Giving the artist creative control, they may send one song to us they believe is a perfect fit. Our A&R team picks the best submissions and sends them into our clients. It’s that simple and lots of fun! I also just started music supervising which means I pick the music that goes into the project. This means our members WILL get placements, money and incredible exposure. Best part is, we do not take any commission, you do not sign any contracts and you retain full rights to your music!

Thank You,

I hope you enjoyed this short but to the point story on how easy it is for you to accomplish anything you put your mind to. Please visit any of our sites as we would love to work with all of you!
