OnlineRock: Empowering Musicians
OnlineRock CD Review

n-Track Studio will allow you to use your computer as a complete recording studio. You can record and playback a virtually unlimited number of audio and MIDI tracks, depending on your computer’s speed. Audio tracks are stored as standard wave files on your hard disk. Using the "virtual" mixer, you can adjust track levels, pan a track to the left or right channel etc.

Realtime Audio effects such as echo, chorus and compression can be added to each track, to the master channel or to one of the aux channels non-destructively: you can adjust the effect settings and listen to the result in real time. Apart from its native effects (Reverb, Echo, Auto volume, Pitch Shift and Chorus) the program also supports the standard DirectX and VST plugins interfaces: third party effect modules can be used in real-time from within the program.

Effects processing and mixing uses 32 bit resolution

The program works with any standard or multichannel 16 and 24 bit soundcards
Any combination of 16, 24 and 32 bit mono and stereo wave files can be used in the same song or even on the same track
Up to 32 aux channels with fully automated sends & returns

The program can sync to other programs or external devices using SMPTE/MTC or MIDI Clocksync, acting either as master or slave

Destructive and non-destructive editing operations can be performed within the program, allowing easy copy, cut, paste of portions of wave files between different tracks
Multiple input and output soundcards or more than one soundcard are supported so it's possible to record more than one track at a time and to output to more than one stereo output. Each output channels has its own master effects section and master volume control
Supporting both DirectX and VST plug-ins, the program now allows using virtually all the plug-ins available for the PC platform

Supports VST Instruments and DirectX Instruments synth plug-ins: sample-accurate MIDI tracks can be processed with plug-ins and sent to the main audio output, without the need of an hardware MIDI synth!

Supporting standard Windows soundcards drivers (MME), WDM, Asio and DirectSound drivers the program is compatible with virtually any soundcard and audio recording interface available for PCs.
The program can load and save MIDI tracks to standard MIDI files
Wave and MIDI tracks are treated in the same fashion: all the controls work in a similar way for both audio and MIDI tracks. MIDI tracks can be edited in the Piano Roll window.
Videos (AVI, MPEG) can be played in sync with the song in a dedicated video playback window
A single track can contain an unlimited number of wave files. Looping of wave files can be easily accomplished concatenating several instances of the same wave file
It's possible to automate the evolution of the volume, pan, send and return settings: you can "program" fade-in/outs, cross fades, boost the volume of a track when there is a solo etc..
It's possible to record the evolution of effects parameters (for example change the length of a delay effect during the course of the song)
A pair of vu-meters for every input and output channel help to make sure that the recording and playback levels are correct, and that no clipping occurs
Due to the fact that audio tracks are stored as normal wave files, you'll be able to process the tracks with the help of an external wave editor
Once finished recording the whole song, you can mixdown all the tracks into a single wav file to eventually to use it to record a CD track using a CD recorder or to distribute the song via internet using the built-in mp3 encoder.
Try the program now: the evaluation version is fully usable. It has no limitations in the number or length of the tracks. However, from time to time a registration reminder dialog box will appear (but not during playback or recording) and some advanced features require the program to be registered: mixdown to a single wave file is disabled; real-time effects work only on the first track
